In Not Just a Bowl of Fruit (2022), the 84-year-old British life model Diana Mukuma reflects on her ageing body while posing nude for a group of artists brandishing charcoal and paper. As Mukuma discusses how she came to nude modelling late in life and reflects on her matured features with striking honesty, the camera examines the contours of her body in drifting close-ups. Through this process, the directors Greta Griniūtė and Luke Flanagan find inspiration in Mukuma’s unidealised, natural form, providing her the affirmation and visibility she also seeks in modelling.
